EMG 502 TEACHING & LEARNING & GLOBAL LEARNING
In this unit students critically evaluate theories of teaching and learning for their capacity to promote and facilitate cultural awareness and engagement in work and life. The unit utilises `western' and non-western ways of knowing, doing and being to enhance contributions of marginalised and minority knowledges in education settings. These issues are explored in the context of the world economy, changes in the nature of work and learning and the influence of these changes on education and training work. Students will articulate the relevance of these theories and changes in settings as diverse as workplaces, schools, community centres and broader social movement organisations.
First week of Uni: The semester started with an introduction of the two lecturers Dr. Sharon L & Dr. Yoshi B. The discussion revolved around :
March 2016
On week two, Internal and external students met through synchronous meetings convened via Collaborate to discuss the topics of their interests and possibly form an alliance to work together. Dr Yoshi uploaded the first lesson on learn line system. The main focus is Framing the issues: including exploring the global dimensions of local issues in education.

Week 5: Dr. Sharon L uploaded a lecture recording that discussed the Suzuki method. A method I am very familiar with being a Professional DJ. It is also Suzuki movement, an internationally known method of teaching music conceived and executed by Japanese violinist and pedagogue Shinichi Suzuki (1898–1998) dating from the mid-20th century.
This week is also about Engaging the issues: including engaging and reflecting on international practice and research.
